About the imprint

Books that trained the people who had to be right.

War Philosophy is a new publishing imprint. We take the classic texts of the warrior traditions, the ones generals, emperors and swordsmen actually read, and make editions worth keeping at a price worth paying.

How we make a book

Four steps, none of them skipped.

  1. Choose the text

Only works in the public domain, in translations we can verify. Provenance is recorded for every source.

  2. Edit it

Spelling and typography modernised, the author’s voice kept, obvious errors corrected against the original language where we can.

  3. Set it

A reading serif, a comfortable measure, running heads, chapter summaries and an index. The page is the product.

  4. Publish it in every format

Paperback printed close to the reader, ebook and audio delivered to your account at once, and more formats as they are ready.

Write to the editors

Questions about an edition, a text you think we should publish, or a mistake you found: we read everything.
